Scribd Invites Writers to Upload Work and Name Their Price - NYTimes.com
Finally.
A company is letting authors produce and distribute their books via electronic file. This is the future. I think that the market will be tough, editors and agents perform an important task filtering new authors for the marketplace.
It's sad, but must people who write don't have talent. No, I'm not being a jerk, they don't have "I'd pay money for that" talent, at least. Writers with commercial talent are rare, rare like opera divas. It's more than just being able to write, it's having a sense for what people want to read too. With writers being able to bypass the publishing houses the reader will need to filter the novels on their own. I don't see how that will work either.
